Stores and checkouts

Every slow page has a price tag.

Years running e-commerce for a tool and machinery retailer, plus payment gateways and subscription plugins for agency clients before that. Commerce is where I learned that performance is not a nice-to-have, it is revenue with a different label.

What I believe about stores

  • Speed is a merchandising decision. The faster catalogue page beats the prettier, slower one.
  • Configurators beat SKUs. The hammer builder let customers spec a tool and buy it in one flow instead of browsing a hundred variants.
  • Payments are code, not a checkbox. I have written a gateway from the API docs up (Paymentez) and a subscription engine for recurring memberships.
  • Search inside the store is the second homepage. Filters, synonyms and zero-result handling get the same attention as the landing page.
  • Measure the money. Not sessions. Orders, average order value, and what changed when the page did.

Commerce work

5 questions about Arvind Kumar, answered

Which e-commerce platforms does Arvind work with?

BigCommerce and WooCommerce, mostly. I ran a 20,000+ SKU BigCommerce store, and I have written WooCommerce payment gateways and subscription plugins for agency clients.

What results did Arvind get in e-commerce?

On the tool and machinery store I ran from 2024 to 2026, conversion went up 20% and cart abandonment went down 18%.

Can Arvind build payment gateways and product configurators?

Yes. I wrote a WooCommerce gateway for Paymentez from the API docs up, a subscription plugin for gyms, and the hammer builder, a product configurator customers use to spec and buy a custom hammer.

Has Arvind connected stores to marketplaces?

Yes. At Atlas I connected Amazon to BigCommerce for shared fulfillment and reconciliation. For Gaumen Freunde, purchasing, invoicing and fulfillment ran inside WordPress, including Amazon, Etsy and eBay orders.

Why does page speed matter for an online store?

Every slow page has a price tag. The faster catalogue page beats the prettier, slower one, so I treat speed as a merchandising decision and measure orders and average order value, not sessions.
