The shared vocabulary for structured data. It tells search engines and AI tools, in code, what a page is about: a person, a product, an event, a question.

What is Schema.org?

Schema.org is a vocabulary the major search engines agreed on in 2011 for describing things on the web: people, organisations, products, events, articles, questions and answers. Added to a page, usually as JSON-LD, it turns text a machine has to interpret into facts it can read.

Google uses it for rich results, and answer engines lean on it to understand who said what. It only helps when it matches the visible text. Markup that claims more than the page shows is ignored, or worse.

How I use Schema.org

Structured data is part of how I build pages, not a plugin setting. The content hubs I built carry schema that matches their text, and the Core Web Vitals work at Atlas went hand in hand with schema.

This site is an example. The Person schema in the homepage hero is the exact graph crawlers get, every project adds its own entry, and each term in this glossary is a DefinedTerm in a DefinedTermSet.
