What is WooCommerce?
WooCommerce adds a store to WordPress: products and variations, cart and checkout, taxes, shipping, payments, orders and customer accounts. Launched in 2011 and owned by Automattic since 2015, it is free at its core and extended by thousands of plugins.
Because it is WordPress underneath, content and commerce live in one system, and anything the store needs that no plugin offers can be written.
How I use WooCommerce
I have built WooCommerce stores since my agency years: a build-your-own cosmetics shop for UWI, where conditional logic guides every choice and the price works itself out, the shop for Ñan, Ecuador's leading travel magazine, and Gaumen Freunde's pasta-equipment store in Germany. At TeamQ I led a remote team building WordPress, WooCommerce and HubSpot sites.
When the ecosystem had no answer, I wrote one: a WooCommerce gateway for Paymentez, a Latin American processor with no plugin, and a recurring-membership plugin for gyms.
