What is BigCommerce?

BigCommerce is a software-as-a-service commerce platform. Hosting, checkout, payments and security are handled for you; the store is customised through Stencil themes and extended through REST and GraphQL APIs.

It suits catalogues that have outgrown a starter platform and teams that want an open, API-first setup without running their own servers.

How I use BigCommerce

I ran Atlas Tools & Machinery's BigCommerce store: more than 20,000 SKUs, three people in-house and two agencies. I moved it to an API-first setup on GraphQL for real-time inventory sync, connected Amazon for shared fulfilment, built a promotions rules engine so marketing could launch offers without development, and set up Klaviyo flows for abandoned carts.

The hammer builder, a product configurator customers use to spec and buy a custom hammer in one flow, is the piece I point to when people ask what e-commerce UX is for. Conversion rose 20% and cart abandonment fell 18% while I ran the store.
