What is Kentico?
Kentico is a commercial content management system built on Microsoft .NET, now sold as Kentico Xperience. It combines content editing with marketing features such as personalisation and email, and many software vendors build their own products on it.
Older versions run on a portal engine of page templates and web parts configured in the browser. Without a plugin marketplace like WordPress's, anything beyond the stock parts is built by hand.
How I use Kentico
At Jonas Club Software I built websites for private golf, racquet and country clubs on the company's in-house Kentico platform. I learned it in under three months and delivered more than fifteen customised club sites. Seven of them are public here, including The British Club, Osler Bluff Ski Club and Mentor Harbor Yachting Club.
Every enhancement was hand-written in HTML, CSS and JavaScript: the first dark mode the company shipped, glassmorphism, and scroll animation in GSAP and ScrollMagic. I also co-developed the WordPress proof of concept that moved the product off Kentico, and the custom plugins behind it.
