Captured from the live site in October 2026. Clients keep their sites moving after handover, so some details differ from the version I delivered.
The brief
The British Club runs on Kentico 8, a platform with no plugins and no themes, so anything beyond the stock templates has to be written by hand. The site still had to feel like what the club is: a hilltop retreat in Bukit Timah with pools, courts, restaurants and a full events calendar.
What I did
As Senior Web Designer and Developer at Jonas Club Software, I designed the site and built every enhancement in HTML, CSS, jQuery and JavaScript. The headline piece was the dark mode, the first in the company's history: I designed it, tested it across the club's templates and shipped it, with glassmorphism panels and scroll animation built in GSAP and ScrollMagic.
It became the template for later club builds at Jonas.
Visual concept
Lusitana carries the headings. It is a Renaissance-style serif drawn from the type of a sixteenth-century book, so a British institution speaks with the voice of something printed and old rather than corporate. Raleway sets the text, a light, elegant geometric sans that keeps long facility descriptions easy to read. Serif for heritage, sans for resort: the pairing says both things the club is.
The colours do the same job. Midnight (#151925) and the club's navy (#002855) hold the dark mode and the welcome panels, slate (#414350) and a cool mist grey (#ababc7) give dark surfaces depth without falling to black, and white carries the type. Against that cool frame, the tropical photography supplies all the warmth.

The homepage, section by section
- An aerial film of the pools fills the hero, edge to edge under a white navigation bar.
- A navy welcome panel with one call to action: Become a Member.
- Event cards in a thin gold frame, offset over a patterned corner.
- The club's story beside its awards, in the same framed style, so news and heritage speak with one voice.
- An aerial band that splits into Dining, Sports and Events & Happenings.

Outcome
Its dark mode was the first in Jonas Club Software's history and became the template for later club builds.
