The brief

Ñan is Ecuador's leading travel magazine, with print issues, illustrated maps and subscriptions. The shop had to sell all three and feel like the magazine itself.

What I did

I led the WordPress and WooCommerce development at Design Republik. The shop splits the catalogue into magazines and maps from the first scroll, shows the most wanted issues as a grid of covers, then makes the case for subscriptions with the digital edition.

Visual concept

Lato for headings and Raleway for text: two calm sans serifs that never compete with the magazine. Ñan's covers and its photography of Ecuador are the real design, so the type stays out of the way and lets an iguana or a volcano carry the page.

Signal yellow (#ffdd30) is the colour of every Ñan cover, so it frames the whole shop, from the top bar to the buttons and the yellow block of product lists. Near-black (#111111) and night (#041721) give it contrast in the header and footer, and white keeps the covers clean.
