Captured from the live site in October 2026. Clients keep their sites moving after handover, so some details differ from the version I delivered.
The brief
Pim's opened as a London-style café pub in Quito in 1981 and now runs restaurants at viewpoints over the city, El Panecillo among them. The site had to sell the view, the food and the events, and send people to book a table.
What I did
I was the primary designer and developer at Design Republik, on WordPress with BeTheme and WPBakery. The homepage opens on a split hero: the logo on bottle green on one side, a short film of the city and the food on the other. From there it moves in big, simple blocks, the view, the menu, the moments people book for and live events, with Reservar Ahora repeated where the decision happens.
Visual concept
Ibarra Real Nova carries the headlines. It revives the type Joaquín Ibarra printed with in eighteenth-century Madrid, a Spanish transitional serif, and set in capitals it feels like colonial Quito, the old town you see from Pim's windows. Lato does the reading, a warm humanist sans that keeps menus and opening hours easy on a phone, and Poppins labels the small headings.
The colours come from a pub and a city. Bottle green (#154734) is the wood and leather of the original café pub, copper (#ba833c) the brass and the evening light, and brick red (#a62626) the colonial roofs, used for the buttons. A warm off-white (#eeefea) holds it together.

The homepage, section by section
- A split hero: the logo on bottle green and a film of El Panecillo and the food.
- La Mejor Vista Panorámica de Quito, with the Virgin of El Panecillo over the city.
- The menu as a card on a dinner plate, over a tartan tablecloth.
- Creating magical moments and live events, as alternating photo and text panels.
- Diner reviews, then a green footer with location, opening hours and the newsletter.
