What is WebMCP?
WebMCP brings the ideas of the Model Context Protocol to the web page itself. Instead of an agent guessing its way through a page by reading the screen and clicking buttons, the page declares tools, such as a form with typed fields, that an agent working in the browser can discover and call.
It is still a proposal, and still evolving. The promise is simple: sites stay in control of what an agent may do, and agents stop breaking every time a layout changes.
How I use WebMCP
I write about WebMCP and design for it. In my open framework for AI on WordPress, AI Conversion offers every form through WebMCP, so an AI agent acting for a visitor can find a form and complete it in a structured way, while the person still reviews it and presses Send.
Agent or person, every submission should pass the same spam checks and throttling. Browsers that do not support WebMCP ignore the attributes, so people see no change.
