What is Gutenberg?
Gutenberg is the project name of the block editor that replaced WordPress's classic editor in version 5.0, in 2018. Every piece of content, a paragraph, an image, a call to action, is a block with its own settings, saved as HTML with a small comment that describes it.
Block themes extend the idea to the whole site: headers, footers and templates are made of blocks too, and one theme.json file controls colours, type and spacing.
How I use Gutenberg
I build custom blocks and block themes. A block library works best when each block is one folder, picked up by a registry with no central wiring, and editors can convert old blocks into new ones from the toolbar.
This portfolio is a block theme with no page builder.
