What is AMP?

AMP was announced in 2015 as a restricted HTML format with a strict JavaScript budget, so mobile pages would load almost instantly and could be cached by Google.

In 2021 Google stopped requiring AMP for Top Stories and began judging all pages on Core Web Vitals, so most sites now get the same speed from well-built standard pages.
