The layers added on top of a bbPress forum. A diagram, not a screenshot: the plugin was written for agency clients and runs on their sites.

The problem

bbPress gives you a forum. Clients wanted a community: profiles, activity feeds, notifications, moderation tools and the small social features that keep people coming back.

What I built

As lead developer I built plugins that add those layers on top of bbPress, so clients got the community features they wanted without moving to a separate social platform.

On other community projects I built membership platforms on BuddyPress with Youzify, WooCommerce and geolocation tracking, and turned BuddyPress and BuddyBoss communities into progressive web apps and mobile apps.

Under the hood

  1. Forum. The forum stays on bbPress.
  2. Profiles. Every member gets a profile.
  3. Activity. Activity feeds show what is happening across the community.
  4. Notifications. Notifications bring members back to the conversation.
  5. Moderation. Moderators get the tools to keep it healthy.

Outcome
